Hey everyone, and welcome!
I have a bad habit of quitting projects right when they start getting good. I’ll dream up a massive, complex game idea, obsess over it for a week, and then quietly let it slip away because I get overwhelmed by how much there is to learn.
But not this time.
To force myself out of my comfort zone and build the momentum I need to become a full-time indie developer, I've done something a little crazy: I’m turning my entire game dev journey into a live, high-stakes rogue-lite challenge. No boring lectures or perfect, polished tutorials here—just real execution, real struggles, and actual consequences.
Here is how the game works:
Every single month is a new challenge. I have exactly 30 days to design, code, and completely ship a unique, standalone game prototype to Itch.io.
But here’s the catch: PERMADEATH IS ACTIVE. If a month ends and my game isn't live and playable, the current run experiences a total system wipe. I lose all the experience points (XP) I’ve gathered up to that point, that game concept is permanently dead, and I'm forced to start entirely over with a brand-new concept.
The ultimate goal of this year-long "run" is to level up my skills across 4 different development worlds:
• World 1 (Months 1–3): The Voice — Mastering branching paths and text systems in Godot.
• World 2 (Months 4–6): The Evidence — Diving into inventory logic and custom notebooks.
• World 3 (Months 7–9): The Senses — Stepping into 3D environments, mood lighting, and audio.
• World 4 (Months 10–12): The Synthesis — Interrogation mechanics and final polish passes.
Once I finally hit Level 12, I’ll unlock the ultimate prize: building my absolute dream game.
And the best part? You are actively playing this meta-game with me.
Through the comments, community polls, and my website, you get to mess with my development environment in real-time. If I hit a major channel milestone, you can hand me a much-needed perk. But if I mess up, you can hit me with a brutal consequence.
I'm laying it all on the line to finally finish what I started. Join my Community, check out the live tracker on my website, and let's see if I actually ship something cool... or completely wipe on Day 30.
